Erik Ralske became the principal horn player of both the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and the Los Angeles Philharmonic in the same week in 2010. Prior to that, he was a member of the New York Philharmonic for 17 seasons and appeared as a soloist with the orchestra more than a dozen times. Previously, he was associate principal horn with the Houston Symphony Orchestra and principal horn with the Vancouver Symphony, Florida Symphony, and Tulsa Philharmonic Orchestras.

As a chamber musician, Ralske has performed with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, the Met Chamber Ensemble, the New York Philharmonic Ensembles, Music Academy of the West, and at the Seattle, Vancouver, and Bridgehampton chamber music festivals. Ralske is a member of the Philharmonic Quintet of New York. His albums include Take 9, with members of the N.Y. Philharmonic horn section and the American Horn Quartet as well as an album of chamber music by the Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Paul Moravec (Naxos).

Ralske is a faculty member at the Manhattan School of Music and Mannes College the New School for Music. He received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Juilliard and has been a faculty member since 2012.
