About
Hillary Simms, who’s from the town of Torbay, which is in Newfoundland and Labrador, holds a BM from McGill University, an MM from Yale University, and an Artist Diploma from the Glenn Gould School Royal Conservatory of Music. She is also pursuing her DMA at Northwestern University. She previously served on the Memorial University of Newfoundland faculty, and she gave her solo debut playing the Tomasi Concerto with the National Arts Center Orchestra. She’s also performed with ensembles including the Vancouver, Chicago, and Newfoundland symphony orchestras as well as Canadian Opera Company. Simms serves on the artistic committee for the Canadian Women’s Brass Collective and is a founding member of the Canadian Trombone Quartet and the Saltwater Brass Quintet. She joined the American Brass Quintet and the Juilliard faculty in 2023.
