About
Violinist Sally Thomas, born in Minot, N.Dakota, appeared in recital and as soloist with symphony orchestras throughout the U.S. and Canada. She is the author of editions of works for violin. Competitions she has won include the National Federation of Music Clubs Northern Lights. She was on the board of directors for Society for Strings Inc. and has been a violin faculty member at Meadowmount School of Music in Westport, N.Y., since 1960. She has taught master classes around the country. Thomas received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Juilliard. She studied violin with Ivan Galamian and chamber music with Edouard Dethier, Josef Gingold, Hans Letz, and Louis Persinger. She has been a faculty member in the College and Pre-College Divisions since 1961.
