As late spring turned into early summer and the Juilliard students stepped out onto their respective stages for the season's final performances, the community celebrated the passing of another year with preparations for the future. After La finta giardiniera and the third-year actors' Shakespeare productions went dark, the actors got to celebrate with their classmates at the annual spring picnic before parting ways for their summer projects. The Development Office spent time in May with individuals who have made generous committments to the School and danced the night away with the newly-formed Juilliard Club, a group for young arts enthusiasts. And six days after the School thanked Stephen Clapp for his 13 years of service as Dean, he was back onstage, this time with incoming dean and provost, Ara Guzelimian, as well as President Polisi; chair of the Liberal Arts Department, Mitchell Aboulafia; and Michael Griffel, chair of the undergraduate music history department, to discuss the year ahead.
