By EVAN FEIN French conductor Ludovic Morlot is one of the conducting world’s rising stars; having already led such ensembles as the New York Philharmonic and the Chicago Symphony, he is now anticipating his debuts with the Cleveland Orchestra, Dresden Staatskapelle, and BBC Philharmonic. By BENJAMIN LAUDE Director Stephen Wadsworth and conductor Keri-Lynn Wilson make their Juilliard Opera debuts this month when the J.O.C. presents Verdi’s Falstaff, an opera buffa more or less based on Shakespeare’s The Merry Wives of Windsor, but with heavy doses of Henry IV , Parts I and II, to round out the character. It is a complex and difficult opera to produce, Wilson says, but the obstacles only add to the rewards. More...
