Austin Lam (BFA '15) won a medal for his choreography in the Valentina Kozlova International Ballet Competition finals in New York in May.

Michele Carter (BFA '14) speaks about her path toward becoming a company member of Bodytraffic in a June Dance Magazine article called "So, you graduated. Now what?" Christine Bodie (BFA '05) also dances with Bodytraffic, which this summer took part in the Moves After Dark festival at the Music Center Plaza in Los Angeles and the Artown Festival in Reno, Nev.


In April, Brandon Cournay (BFA '09) was in residency at the Orpheum Performing Arts Center in Tannersville, N.Y., with Schoen Movement Company, which also includes Tyler Phillips (BFA '13). Cournay returned to the Orpheum in May and June for a three-week residency with Keigwin + Company. Judy, a play by Max Posner (Playwrights '15), begins previews on September 1 at Off Broadway's New Ohio Theatre. Directed by Ken Rus Schmoll, it's scheduled to run through September 26. The play was first seen at the September 2014 Juilliard Playwrights Festival. Posner also recently completed a commission for South Coast Repertory in Costa Mesa, Calif.

In the spring, The Roommate by Jen Silverman (Playwrights '15) was presented by the Actors Theatre of Louisville's Humana Festival. Yale Repertory Theatre will present her play The Moors (January 20-February 16); it will be directed by Jackson Gay. Silverman's Still will be performed as part of Juilliard's fourth-year repertory cycle.

Gloria by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins (Playwrights '13) and directed by Evan Cabnet had its world premiere in May at the Vineyard Theatre and featured Ryan Spahn (Group 43). In March, Jacobs-Jenkins joined...Read more


At the Young Concert Artists Gala Concert in May, Ji Yong Kim (Pre-College '09; Diploma '15, piano) was the soloist for a performance of Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 23 in A Major with the Orchestra of St. Luke's conducted by Gerard Schwarz (BS '72, MM '90 trumpet; former faculty).

Ruth Reinhardt (MM '15, orchestral conducting) was named an associate fellow in the Taki Concordia Conducting Fellowship. This spring, Reinhardt participated in the sixth international conducting master class with David Zinman and the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich. She spent the summer as a conducting fellow at the Tanglewood Music Center.

In April, Alexander Kinmonth (BM '15) was appointed the Detroit Symphony Orchestra's principal oboist.

Crossing, an opera by Matthew Aucoin (Graduate Diploma '14, composition), received its premiere in an American Repertory Theater production at the Shubert Theatre in Boston in June. Aucoin, who also wrote the libretto, conducted. Singers included bass-baritone...Read more
