Kara Chan (BFA '15) performed in Mark Morris Dance Group's The Hard Nut at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in December.

Amber Pickens (BFA '15) will be in Cirque du Soleil's first show on Broadway, Paramour; previews begin April 16. She was also part of Summer Stage's 40th-anniversary celebration of The Wiz, in August.

Taylor Drury (BFA '14) is one of six choreographers who participated in FLICfest (Feature Length Independent Choreography) in January. It was held at the Irondale Center for Theater, Education, and Outreach in Brooklyn.

Gillian Abbott (BFA '13) is starring as Frances “Baby” Housman in the national tour of Dirty Dancing: The Classic Story on Stage, which is based on the 1987 film. The tour runs through June, when it winds up in Virginia.

Nicholas Christopher (Group 42) was featured in David Bowie and Enda Walsh's Lazarus. Directed by Ivo van Hove, it was at the New York Theatre Workshop from November through January.

The Alving Estate, an immersive theatrical experience inspired by Ibsen's Ghosts and featuring Phoebe Dunn (Group 42), runs through February 26 at the Morris-Jumel Mansion in Washington Heights.

The Woodsman, directed by Claire Karpen (Group 41) and James Ortiz, has its official opening on February 7 at Off Broadway's New World Stages.

In November, Danielle Brooks (Group 40) guest-starred in an episode of the Netflix show Master of None.

In January, Wyatt Underhill (MM '15, violin) became the assistant concertmaster of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra.

Soprano Julia Bullock (Artist Diploma '15, opera studies) will receive a Sphinx Medal of Excellence on March 16 in Washington, D.C. The prize includes a $50,000 grant for career development.

It was announced in November that Matthew Aucoin (Graduate Diploma '14, composition) has been named the Elaine F. Stepanek Foundation Opera Conductor by Music Academy of the West. As part of a seven-week residency, he will lead the Academy Festival Orchestra and fellows from the voice program in a new production of Smetana's The Bartered Bride on July 29 and 31. He will also teach a seminar on music and poetry.
