Congrats to the class of 2014! And cheers to the following class members who had gotten jobs as of mid-July.

Lois Alexander: Staatstheater Saarbrucken in Germany under the direction of Stijn Celis

Alexander Anderson: Nederlands Dans Theater 2 in Holland under Gerald Tibbs. Other alums dancing with the company are Spencer Dickhaus (BFA ’12), Casia Vengoechea (BFA ’12), and Gregory Lau (’13).

Corwin Barnette: Aspen Santa Fe Ballet under Tom Mossburcker. Other alums dancing with the company are Craig Black (BFA ’11), Paul Busch (BFA ’11), Nolan DeMarco McGahan (BFA ’07), Emily Proctor (BFA ’07), and Joseph Watson (BFA ’07).

Kristina Bentz: Lyon Opera Ballet under Yorgos Loukos. Randy Castillo (BFA ’05) also dances with the company.

Leiland Charles: Alberta Ballet, where he joins fellow full company member Chris Kaiser (BFA ’13)

Daphne Fernberger: Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet under Alexandra Damiani. Billy Bell (’10), Rachelle Scott (BFA ’12), and Navarra Novy-Williams (BFA ’06) also dance with the company.

Alex Breaux (Group 43) and Ismenia Mendes (Group 41) appeared in the Public Theater’s Shakespeare in the Park production of Much Ado About Nothing in July. The production was directed by Jack O’Brien. 

Wallis Currie-Wood (Group 43) has been cast as Stephanie McCord in the CBS drama Madam Secretary, which premieres September 21 (though she’s not slated to appear until the second episode).

Sarah Hunt (Group 43) is featured in the Broadway musical The Last Ship, with music and lyrics by Sting and book by John Logan and Brian Yorkey. Directed by Joe Mantello, the production will begin previews on September 29 at the Neil Simon Theater and open on October 26.

Branden Jacobs-Jenkins’s (Playwrights ’14) plays Appropriate and An Octoroon tied for the best new American play Obie at the May awards ceremony. Chris Myers (Group... Read more

Yuri Boguinia (BM ’14, composition) received a Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowship for New Americans and is putting it toward his graduate studies in composition at Princeton.

In July, Evan Fein (MM ’09, DMA ’14, composition) played the piano for a recital of songs he composed to poetry by Thorvaldur Kristjansson (Drama Group 40) at Iceland’s Siglufjörður Music Festival. Icelandic tenor Bragi Bergthórsson sang.

The Shanghai Philharmonic has announced that Peng-Peng Gong (Pre-College ’10; BM ’14, composition) will serve as composer-in-residence for the 2014-16 seasons. In May, the orchestra gave a full concert of Gong’s music, including his Symphony No. 3 and his Third Piano Concerto, for which he was the soloist. On November 13, Jie Yuan (Artist Diploma ’13, piano) will premiere Gong’s Three Preludes for Piano at Carnegie Call in this year’s Leo... Read more
