How many years have you studied at Juilliard? This is my fourth year.

Why did you decide to apply to and attend Juilliard? I graduated from Fordham University at Lincoln Center with a degree in theater. Upon graduation, I realized that I wanted to continue to grow as an actor. In order to do so, I knew I needed to return to school. I applied to only three programs: Yale, U.C.S.D., and Juilliard. Juilliard was my first choice.
What have been some of your favorite classes? Movement taught by Moni Yakim, Masks taught by Mina Yakin, Point of View taught by Renee Houtrides, Clown taught by Christopher Bayes, Alexander Technique taught by Caroly Serota, and First-Year Acting taught by Richard Feldman.
Tell us about one of your most memorable moments at the School. I have had several memorable moments, but perhaps the most memorable is one that I am lucky to experience daily; walking by a practice room or a dance studio and having the opportunity to watch another magnificent artist at work. It is such a gift to observe the varied manifestations of creative process, yet as a Juilliard student, it is a daily privilege that helps us foster a deeper dedication to our art.
What does it mean to you that individuals and alumni donate money to support Juilliard? Without alumni support, I would not be able to attend Juilliard. When I was accepted to the School, I expressed concern because I carry undergraduate loans and I was apprehensive about paying for a secondary degree. However, not only were my dreams realized in my acceptance to the School, but also the financial support from alumni made it possible to focus entirely on my work as an artist. Because of their generosity, I have had the opportunity to grow tremendously — as an actor and as an individual.
How important was it to you to receive a scholarship to attend Juilliard? Extremely important. Without scholarship support I would have had to reject my acceptance due to financial hardship. I would have relinquished an opportunity that I believe only comes once in a lifetime. My life has been forever changed because of this school and the heartfelt support of its donors.
