Tell Us Your News

The Juilliard Journal welcomes submissions from alumni for the Alumni News column, which appears eight times per year in the paper and on the Web. When sending your news, please follow these few simple guidelines so that we can process your Alumni News items quickly and accurately.

  1. E-mail your items to journal@juilliard.edu, with “Alumni News” in the subject line. If you cannot e-mail your news, you may fax it to (212) 769-6422, or mail it to:
       The Juilliard Journal
       The Juilliard School, Room 200B
       60 Lincoln Center Plaza
       New York, NY 10023-6588
  2. (Please note: If you mail or fax an item, it must be typed. Handwritten notes will not be accepted.)
  3. News is due by the first of the month prior to the month of publication (September 1 for the October paper; October 1 for the November paper; etc.). Please note: the deadline for the September paper is July 15.
  4. Your item may be edited for content and length. Since space in The Journal is tight, please keep your item to no more than 175 words.
  5. Please limit your items to activities that occurred no more than six months prior to the date of submission.
  6. Be as specific with details as possible. Instead of writing "Recently, I did such and such," specify the date (month or day, month) and location (city and state) for each event. If you mention the name of a venue (auditorium, college, theater, etc.), please indicate its location (town and state or country).
  7. If your item includes names other than your own, please indicate to the best of your knowledge whether the people you refer to are also Juilliard alums.
  8. Newsletters, press releases, and Web links are not sufficient notice for listing of activities. We will no longer accept these forms of communications sent blindly as Alumni News submissions. If you, your press agent, or managers send newsletters, press releases, and/or Web links by e-mail, you must put "Alumni News" in the subject line and indicate in the body of the message the name of the alum being publicized. If you send these items by "snail mail," they must be accompanied by a cover note.
  9. Because of the quantity of news we receive, please limit your items to professional activities only. As much as we would love to announce marriages, births, etc., we simply do not have space. (If you are a member of the Juilliard Alumni Online Community, you may submit personal items via the Web site. Click on "Online Community" in the menu in the upper right hand of this page.) Please note that items posted in the Online Community Class Notes section will not automatically appear in The Juilliard Journal. To appear in the paper, you must submit your news items following the guidelines outlined on this page.
  10. You may submit a photo for consideration; please understand, however, that sending one does not guarantee its usage. If you are able, the preferred way to send a photo is as a JPEG attachment to your e-mail submission. (Please supply the photo credit if applicable.) You may also send photos by mail to the address above. Photos cannot be returned unless accompanied by a self-addressed stamped envelope.
Thank you for your cooperation, and we look forward to hearing from you.
