Important Deadlines

  1. The following materials must be RECEIVED BY the December 1, 2011 deadline:
Applications without required transcripts and Proof of English Language Proficiency (if applicable) by December 1 will be discontinued – late materials will not be accepted.
  1. Pre-screening materials, if required, must be received by December 1, 2011.
  2. All other supplemental parts (dossier, graded paper, letters of recommendation) must be received by February 15, 2012.

All materials sent by mail should be mailed together in one envelope. Letters of recommendation and transcripts must be sent directly to the applicant in sealed envelopes, which must remain sealed to be official.  Only TOEFL score reports (if applicable) may be sent separately, directly from ETS. Any other materials sent separately may cause the application to be considered incomplete, and be discontinued.

Standardized Tests

Juilliard does not require the GRE. However, applicants who are taking the tests are welcome to send results to the Admissions Office. The Juilliard School’s CEEB code is 2340.

The Admissions Office reserves the right to seek additional information from former teachers, administrators, or guidance counselors to assist with admissions decisions.

Mailing Instructions

  • Supplemental materials should be sent using mailing systems that can be tracked (i.e. FedEx, UPS, or registered mail) so that you can confirm they were received by Juilliard by the appropriate deadline.
  • The mailing address should contain your major and specify the enclosed material (please see example below). However, if mailing a check, please do not put any references to it on the envelope (you may simply write "Application Materials").
  • Please send required materials well in advance of the deadline(s) so that they are RECEIVED BY the appropriate date(s).
  • Failure to follow the recommended mailing format and instructions may result in your application being discontinued.

Currently Enrolled Juilliard College Students

  1. Currently enrolled Juilliard students seeking to enter a new program of study must apply formally by the appropriate application deadline and must audition during published audition dates. Auditions for the Doctor of Musical Arts will not serve as graduation juries.
  2. Current students are not required to submit pre-screening materials unless applying to a different major (if applicable).
  3. The application fee of $110 will be waived for all current students who submit their applications on or before the deadline.
  4. Current students who missed the appropriate application deadline must make an appointment with the Associate Dean for Admissions to request approval of a late application. If approved, the full fee of $110 will be charged.
  5. Current students do not need to request Juilliard or previous schools’ transcripts be sent to Admissions.
  6. Current students do not need to submit another TOEFL.
  7. Current students DO HAVE TO submit the dossier, graded paper, and letters of recommendation.
  8. The Admissions Office reserves the right to review a student’s enrollment record to assist with admissions decisions.

Formerly Enrolled Juilliard Students

  1. Former college students who have not been in attendance during the previous academic year and who plan to apply for readmission must submit an application and fee to the Office of Admissions by the appropriate deadline.
  2. All former students applying for readmission are required to submit pre-screening materials (if applicable) and take the regular entrance auditions.
  3. Former college students do not need to request Juilliard transcripts be sent to Admissions, however, they should provide transcripts for any other institutions attended after their tenure at Juilliard, to be received by December 1.
  4. Former college students do not need to submit another TOEFL.
  5. Former college students DO HAVE TO submit the dossier, graded paper, and letters of recommendation.
  6. The Admissions Office reserves the right to review a student’s enrollment record to assist with admissions decisions.
  7. The Juilliard School statute of limitations policy limits the amount of time allowed to elapse between a student’s original enrollment in a program of study and completion of that program.

Applicants With Disabilities

The Juilliard School seeks to facilitate the full participation of disabled applicants in the audition process. The School makes reasonable accommodations or adjustments for qualified individuals with known disabilities in compliance with the Americans With Disabilities Act of 1990 (A.D.A.). Juilliard will not make pre-admissions inquiries as to whether or not a student has a disability; however, applicants with documented disabilities who require reasonable accommodations in order to participate in the audition process must notify the Office of Academic Support Services (OASS) in writing by December 15, 2011  to the address below. Applicants will be required to submit documentation of their disability to OASS, and to complete an Applicant Release of Disability Related Information Form and an Audition Accommodation Request Form. All information will be kept strictly confidential.
