Visiting Juilliard
Visiting Juilliard offers you the chance to observe, ask questions, and experience the atmosphere and environment that makes the School unique. Juilliard encourages and welcomes prospective applicants and their families to visit us and take a tour.
When planning a visit to The Juilliard School, you may wish to attend one of our many student performances.
Since Juilliard is not in session during summer months, there will not be any classes, events or performances taking place.
PLEASE NOTE: There will be significant work related to flooring taking place during the summer months which will reduce access to some performance and classroom spaces on a rotating basis. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience.
General tours of The Juilliard School are available to prospective applicants (students applying in the next 2-3 years) and their guests. Tours are offered most weekday mornings Monday-Thursday (June - August) and last approximately one hour. Tours will appear on the search page 60 days in advance, and will be open for registration 30 days before the tour date.
Current Juilliard students lead the tours and are happy to answer your questions as they show you around our classrooms, practice rooms, and performance spaces (as available). They also share their personal experiences as Juilliard students, which is especially important for guests on the tour, who are all prospective applicants and their families.
Due to limited space availability, parties are limited to three people each (two guests per prospective applicant); advance reservations are required. Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate any walk-in parties for a tour.
If you are unable to attend a tour in person, or if you would like to see more before you come, we invite you to take a Virtual Tour of The Juilliard School online at any time.
- General Tours- the tour will cover all three divisions (Dance, Drama, and Music)
Group tours are available on a very limited basis during summer months. Groups requesting a tour in June, July, or August should submit a Summer Group Tour Request Form.
All requests should be submitted no less than three weeks and no more than two months in advance of the desired visit date.
The Juilliard School STRONGLY prefers to receive group tour request forms directly from the teacher or group leader, and is less inclined to arrange tours for travel agents or tour companies.
The Office of Admissions may be able to arrange a private group tour as follows:
- Monday - Thursday only
- at 2 p.m. or 3 p.m.
- the group must be 30 persons or fewer, including students and chaperones
- the majority of tour participants have a specific interest in The Juilliard School or are seeking a post-secondary education in the performing arts (i.e. Dance, Drama, Classical Music, Jazz Studies) and
- tour participants will be applying to college within the next 3 years
