The great creative partnerships of the 20th century are explored in this course with an emphasis on the basic processes, idiosyncrasies, and opportunities involved in this unique working relationship. In addition to learning about the history behind groundbreaking syntheses of dance and music, students attend performances by contemporary collaborative artists, some of whom provide additional insight as guest speakers in the class. Students evaluate and review works, question existing barriers, discuss the factors that impact the outcome of collaborations, and examine the ways both worlds have influenced and continue to change the shape of contemporary artistic production.
Tickets to performances are not included in the tuition price but will be offered to students at discounted prices; attendance to performances is optional
