Biographical Information:
Wrote textbook, Music for the Modern Dance, and many articles on composer-choreographer relationships; lecture-concerts on that topic in U.S. and Europe. Scores for choreographers: Valerie Bettis, Jack Cole, Daniel Lewis, Marion Scott, Carol Scothorn, Gus Solomons. Theater works: Gordon Davidson's productions of The Deputy, The Devils, Murderous Angels at the Mark Taper Forum, Los Angeles, and the Playhouse, N.Y.C. Compositions performed, Cal Arts Contemporary Music Festival, Alice Tully Hall, Aspen Music Festival, radio stations in Europe. Recordings on Protone label; publications by C.F. Peters. Gestures for large orchestra premiered by Cincinnati Philharmonia under Gerhard Samuel; subsequently performed in Aspen under Lawrence Foster. Premiere of opera Dialects received six performances in 1994 at the Opera House in Bonn, Germany. Professor of music and dance, resident composer, U.C.L.A., 1948-85.
