Helpful Information and Resources

New Student Orientation is a week-long series of programs to welcome new students and ease their transition into the Juilliard community. It includes opportunities to meet key administrators, faculty, staff members as well as attend workshops, presentations, and evening socials that will help you acclimate to Juilliard and life at college. You'll get the chance to meet your classmates, especially those outside of your own division, and attend a wide variety of outings to explore New York City with the Orientation Leaders!

Orientation Leaders and Resident AssistantsAll new students are required to attend New Student Orientation. During this time, you will take placement assessments, attend division-specific meetings, learn about school policies and resources, and register for classes. New Student Orientation begins on Sunday, August 28, 2016 (Friday, August 26, 2016 for international students) and runs through Tuesday, September 6, 2016. A complete schedule of assessments, informational sessions and activities will be available in early August.

What about graduate students?
Graduate Student Orientation is specifically targeted to help new graduate students acclimate to the Juilliard community. Workshops and presentations are designed to address the specific needs and concerns of graduate students new to Juilliard and/or NYC. A series of events and socials are planned to introduce students to their colleagues, faculty, staff, and administrators.

Orientation week for me was a time where I felt welcomed to the Juilliard family and was excited to start my new journey as an incoming freshman. With all the fun activities scheduled, I was able to adjust to the city, school and meet my fellow classmates. Throughout the week I met some of my closest friends and was so excited to start my first year at Juilliard!

What makes The Juilliard School such a sacred beautiful place, is the people within its walls. Some of the most talented young artists from all over the world, with many different stories and backgrounds, but all with the same burning passion to learn and create within the craft they love. Orientation gives you the privilege of meeting and sending time with these exquisite people. It opens your eyes to the special community of artist you are now apart of.
