Paula C. Bing (Flute; Woodwind Technique)
B.M., University of Maryland; M.M., Indiana University. Dual career as a flutist and music education specialist. Has performed with numerous orchestras including the Brooklyn Philharmonic, Chinese Music Ensemble, and Dance Theater of Harlem, as well as on Western and Chinese flutes in the Broadway show Miss Saigon. Currently the education director for the Queens Symphony and music consultant and teacher for Midori & Friends. Has worked for the New York Philharmonic, the Los Angeles Music Center, and the Kennedy Center Education Departments. MAP faculty since 1992.
Lucie Gelinas (Violin; Chamber Music; Strings Technique)
B.M., Manhattan School of Music; M.M., Montreal Conservatory of Music. Has performed at the White House, CAMI Hall, Carnegie Hall, and Avery Fisher Hall. Current faculty member, Westchester Conservatory and the School for Strings. MAP faculty since 1998.
Larry Guy (Clarinet)
B.M., Oberlin College-Conservatory; M.M., Catholic University; Postgraduate Diploma, Manhattan School of Music. Principal clarinet with Long Island Philharmonic for 27 years. Former member, Atlanta Symphony. Has performed with the New York Philharmonic, New York City Opera, New York City Ballet, New Jersey Symphony, Brooklyn Philharmonic, and on Broadway. Author of five handbooks and two educational CDs for clarinetists which are in use at schools around the country. Faculty, N.Y.U., Vassar College, Manhattan School of Music Pre-College Division. MAP faculty since 1994.

B.M., M.M., The Juilliard School; Fulbright grant for study in London; graduate of the American Center for the Alexander Technique. Extensive performances across the U.S. and Europe. Member of Elastic Band, a mixed ensemble performing an eclectic repertoire. Participant at Marlboro Music Festival. Coach for the Young Musicians Program of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. Special interest in Alexander Technique for musicians. MAP faculty since 2000.
Lubima G. Kalinkova-Shentov (Double Bass; String Ensemble)
M.M., The Juilliard School; M.A., Academy of Music, Bucharest, Romania. Solo recitals in France, Germany, Italy, Rumania, Bulgaria, as well as the Bruno Walter Auditorium at Lincoln Center and Paul and Morse Halls at Juilliard. Performed with numerous orchestras throughout the United States and Europe. Former principal double bassist of the Radio Chamber Orchestra, Sofia, Bulgaria; recorded solo works for double bass and chamber orchestra. Winner of several music awards from international double bass competitions. Presently a string orchestra instructor for Mount Vernon (NY) Public Schools. MAP faculty since 2002.
Brandon Lee (Trumpet)
B.M., M.M., The Juilliard School. MAP faculty since 2010.
B.M., Oberlin College-Conservatory; M.M., The Juilliard School; studies at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory of Music, Moscow. Has performed throughout the U.S., Europe, Eastern Europe, and Russia as a soloist and chamber musician, and on radio stations WOBC-Oberlin; Wisconsin Public Radio; WCLV-Cleveland; and WQXR-New York. A winner of the Artists International Auditions and invited as a guest clinician in violin and chamber music at Suzuki workshops in eight states nationwide. Faculty, School for Strings, Riverdale Country School; served as MAP's first departmental strings chair. Gretchen Pusch (Flute; Woodwind Ensemble)
B.M., Boston University. Carnegie Recital Hall debut as winner of the Artist International Competition. Has appeared in recital and as concerto soloist in North America, Europe, and Asia. Member of the Dorian Wind Quintet. Has performed with the American Composers Orchestra, Brooklyn Philharmonic, American Symphony, New Jersey Symphony, and on Broadway. Recordings for CRI, VAI, Innova, Mode, Newport Classics, Windham Hill, and Panansonic. Faculty, International Festival Institute at Round Top. Former faculty, Rutgers University; teaching artist, The Academy (a joint program of The Juilliard School, Carnegie Hall, and the Weill Music Institute). MAP faculty since 1992. William J. Ruyle (Percussion; Percussion Ensemble)
Studied at the Manhattan School of Music. Extensive appearances over the last quarter century playing music for classical and contemporary theater and dance. Ensembles have included Newband, Locrian Chamber Players, the Manhattan Marimba Quartet, and HudsonValley Philharmonic. Has studied North and South Indian drumming. Performer for the educational programs Lincoln Center Institute and Carnegie Hall's Link Up. Adjunct professor, Manhattanville College, 2002. MAP faculty since 1991.
Major Andres Scurlock (Piano; Piano Ensemble; Four Hand Piano Ensemble)
B.M., M.M., The Juilliard School; student of Jerome Lowenthal. Came to Juilliard with only five years of piano training and was awarded various scholarships toward his education; accepted into both the Juilliard Teaching and Concert Fellowship programs, where he developed and cultivated his love for arts administration. Assistant to the director of operations at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. MAP faculty since 1994.
Weston Sprott (Trombone)
Indiana U. (2000-02); B.M., Curtis Institute of Music, 2005. Studies with Nitzan Haroz, Carl Lenthe, and Michael Warny. Second trombone, Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, since 2005; previously, principal trombone, Pennsylvania Ballet Orchestra (Philadelphia) and Delaware Symphony Orchestra. Has performed with the Philadelphia Orchestra, Oslo Philharmonic, Atlanta Symphony, Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia,Tanglewood Music Center, Spoleto Festival USA, Hot Springs Music Festival, The American Wind Symphony Orchestra, and Sphinx Symphony (Detroit). Other festival/chamber appearances include the 92nd Street Y, Martha's Vineyard Chamber Music Society, and St. Barts Music Festival. Has appeared as guest artist and master-class clinician at several leading American conservatories and universities. Artist/clinician for the Edwards Instrument Company; performs exclusively on Edwards trombones and Doug Elliott mouthpieces. Former faculty, Mannes College the New School for Music in New York City.
