Concerto Performances & Solo Recitals

Concerto Performances
As a music student at Juilliard, you have the chance to be a concerto soloist for performances in the Peter Jay Sharp Theater or Carnegie, Avery Fisher, or Alice
Tully Halls. Each year student soloists
are selected by competition for concerto performances with the Juilliard
Orchestra. Approximately 10 competitions take place throughout the season;
there are annual competitions for piano, violin, viola, and cello; other
instruments are rotated. Winners perform with the orchestra in the Peter
Jay Sharp Theater, Alice Tully Hall, or Avery Fisher Hall.
Solo Recitals
Hundreds
of student recitals are performed on Juilliard’s stages throughout the school
year, drawing appreciative audiences from the community. Every student must
give a recital to fulfill graduation requirements, with repertoire approved by
the major teacher. Student recitals offer the opportunity to play in the School’s
Paul and Morse Halls, intimate spaces that are ideal for solo and chamber
works.
