Born in Germany

After emigrating to the United States, lived in Albuquerque and Santa Fe where she taught at the U. of New Mexico, sang in recitals and oratorios, and performed many mezzo roles with the Albuquerque Opera Theater. Since coming to New York, has taught German at Columbia U. and Hunter College. Faculty, Manhattan School of Music, since 1990 as German diction instructor/coach and language instructor; holds the same position at Mannes College the New School for Music. When her busy teaching schedule allows it, she coaches at the Metropolitan Opera (credits there include The Magic Flute and Abduction From the Seraglio). Spends her summers coaching singers at the Santa Fe Opera in their German opera productions and working with the young artists in the apprentice program. Most recently in 2011, she has coached Ariadne at the Met and Wozzeck in Santa Fe. Has worked on many full-scale opera productions in the three conservatories and often coaches singers for recitals or oratorio.

Degrees and Studies

Voice studies at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik, Munich; German and English literature at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität, Munich.
