David Afkham Makes His New York Debut

At 28, award-winning German conductor David Afkham is one of the fastest-rising stars of the concert podium. Juilliard’s orchestral season opens on October 10 with Afkham’s highly anticipated New York debut, in which he will direct performances of Brahms’s monumental Second Piano Concerto and Tchaikovsky’s beloved Fourth Symphony.  More...

A Jazz Studies First With Jane Monheit

Juilliard Jazz continues its 10th-anniversary celebration with something new: on October 25, Grammy-nominated Jane Monheit will be the first vocalist to appear in a full-length concert with the Juilliard Jazz Orchestra. All My Sons Launches Drama Season

For its first production of the season, the Drama Division will present Arthur Miller’s classic All My Sons featuring fourth-year actors. Industry veteran Harris Yulin will return to Juilliard to both take the role of the patriarch, Joe Keller, and also direct the play. It opens on October 19. More...

Connections, Contradictions, and Beauty: Axiom’s Season Opener

Programming  works by Gérard Grisey, Harrison Birtwistle, and Magnus Lindberg might seem arbitrary, but Jeffrey Milarsky, who has done just that for the opening concert of the Axiom ensemble’s seventh season—on October 13—hopes this combination will allow “audiences and performers alike to find connections, contradictions, and beauty in these three seemingly disparate works.” More...
