Obama, Race, and History: A Panel Discussion

Panel Video

groupBarack Obama's election was a turning point in American history. What led up to this moment? How did Obama beat the odds to become the first black president? What does his presidency mean to Americans—black, white, or otherwise? On December 8, The Juilliard Journal held a panel discussion focusing on these and other questions. Participating were three students, two faculty members, and one administrator. In honor of Black History Month, The Journal presents a video and an edited transcript of the discussion.
