Violinist Naoko Tanaka, born in Tokyo, Japan, has given concert tours as a soloist and chamber musician in the U.S., South America, Europe, Asia, and Canada. She made her N.Y. solo debut in 1976. Tanaka is a former member of the Theater Chamber Players of the Kennedy Center and Orpheus Chamber Orchestra. She is a current member of the New York Philomusica and concertmaster of St. Luke’s Chamber Ensemble. She has made recordings for Deutsche Grammophon, Columbia Records, and Music Masters. She is on the faculty at Brooklyn College Conservatory of Music (since 1981), the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati (1987-91), and Aspen Music School (since 1987). Tanaka was a visiting professor at New England Conservatory from 2000-01. She received her Diploma and Postgraduate Diploma from Juilliard, where she studied with Dorothy DeLay. Tanaka has been a Juilliard faculty member since 2001 and a Pre-College faculty member since 1984.
