Vocal Arts faculty member Reed Woodhouse, born in Trenton, N.J., is the author of Unlimited Embrace: A Canon of Gay Fiction, 1945-1995, and of many essays and reviews. He has worked as music director at New England Conservatory’s opera workshop and as music director of the Opera Department at Boston Conservatory. Woodhouse is conductor and co-director of the apprentice program at Des Moines Metro Opera. He has worked as a coach-accompanist and assistant conductor at Atlanta Opera, Kentucky Opera, Mobile Opera, Chautauqua Opera, Glimmerglass Opera, and Boston Lyric Opera. His recordings are available on the Nuclassix label. He has worked as an on-site musical theater evaluator for the National Endowment for the Arts.

Woodhouse studied at Kenyon, Oxford, and Boston College. He has been a Juilliard faculty member since 1998.
