Juilliard Jazz opens season with guest artist Christian McBride in A McBride Thang: The Music of Christian McBride on Monday, October 1 at 8 PM in Paul Hall

Juilliard Jazz ensemble performance with Mr. McBride after week of master classes and coaching

Juilliard Jazz presents special guest artist, bassist and Juilliard alumnus Christian McBride, in an evening of his music with the Juilliard Jazz ensembles on Monday, October 1 at 8 PM in Paul Hall. Juilliard Jazz ensembles feature students in the School’s advanced artist diploma program. The performance follows a week of master classes and coaching with Juilliard Jazz musicians. Enter Paul Hall at 144 West 66th Street – Juilliard’s temporary entrance for all its theaters during construction.

Limited FREE tickets are available beginning September 17 at the Juilliard Box Office. Box Office hours are Monday through Friday from 11 AM – 6 PM. Grammy Award winner Christian McBride has performed with an array of artists, including McCoy Tyner, Sting, Kathleen Battle, and Diana Krall. He currently leads the Christian McBride Band with saxophonist Ron Blake, keyboardist Geoffrey Keezer, and drummer Terreon Gully. Mr. McBride holds artistic director posts at the Jazz Aspen Snowmass summer program and the Dave Brubeck Institute at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California. He also is creative chair for the Los Angeles Philharmonic, giving him influence over commercial and educational programs at the Hollywood Bowl and Disney Hall.

The next Juilliard Jazz concert features the Juilliard Jazz Orchestra with legendary Paquito D’Rivera on Wednesday, October 17 at 8 PM in The Peter Jay Sharp Theater. FREE tickets will be available on October 3 at the Juilliard Box Office.
