With an international conducting career that has spanned more than five decades, Amsterdam-born Bernard Haitink (b. March 4, 1929) is one of today's most celebrated conductors. He has led many of the world's top orchestras, including 25 years at the helm of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra of Amsterdam as its music director (1964-1988) and frequent guest appearances with both the Berlin and Vienna Philharmonic Orchestras. He celebrates his four-year tenure as principal conductor of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra during their Beethoven Fest, June 2-20, 2010. Currently, Mr. Haitink is an honorary conductor of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, conductor emeritus of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and an honorary member of the Berlin Philharmonic. He celebrated his birthday in March with highly acclaimed concerts with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam and at The Barbican Centre in London. In addition, Decca has released a 7-CD set of selected historic recordings collectively entitled, The Art of Bernard Haitink.

Known for its versatility and the freshness of its performances, the Juilliard Orchestra performs frequently in its own New York City series each season and is a strong partner to Juilliard's operatic and dance performances. In February 2009, the Juilliard Orchestra performed in the Alice Tully Hall Opening Nights Festival, a two-week celebration marking the reopening of Alice Tully Hall. Another highlight of the Juilliard Orchestra's 2008-2009 season was the world premiere performance of Ellen Taaffe Zwilich's Symphony No. 5: Concerto for Orchestra at Carnegie Hall with conductor James Conlon. The Orchestra closed the FOCUS! 2009 festival with a concert version (featuring Juilliard singers) of John Adams' The Death of Klinghoffer. In May and June 2008, the Juilliard Orchestra toured China with concerts led by conductor Xian Shang. The tour included stops in Beijing, Shanghai, and Suzhou.

The Juilliard Orchestra is featured in eight more concerts at Juilliard, Alice Tully Hall, Avery Fisher Hall, and Carnegie Hall. The calendar of events follows below:
