The Office of Academic Support Services (O.A.S.S.) was established in 2003 to help maximize the academic success and persistence to graduation of all students. The office provides focused services for students with disabilities and students typically underrepresented in higher education.
Services for Students with Disabilities
The Juilliard School is dedicated to helping students with disabilities to fully and successfully meet the academic and performance challenges of a conservatory education. O.A.S.S. works in partnership with students, faculty, and administrators to provide reasonable accommodations and supportive services to qualified students with disabilities; advocates on behalf of those students; and helps to remove physical or attitudinal barriers.
O.A.S.S. provides confidential services for students with permanent or temporary disabilities to ensure that all Juilliard programs, activities, services and facilities are accessible, and are in compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, and other relevant state and federal legislation.
O.A.S.S. is the central point of contact for information on physical and programmatic access, specific accommodations, faculty and staff concerns, and identification of available services. Our office will coordinate the provision of appropriate accommodations and/or academic adjustments on an individual basis for students with disabilities who identify themselves to O.A.S.S., provide adequate documentation of their disability and need for accommodation, request services and complete required forms as needed. In addition, training, consultation, and information regarding disability issues is provided.
