Bidding Farewell to Dorothy DeLay and Benjamin Harkarvy
Within the space of a single week in March, Juilliard lost two beloved faculty members: Benjamin Harkarvy, the director of the Dance Division, and violin teacher Dorothy DeLay, whose students are among the most famous performers in the world. Their unique place in the School (and in the hearts of all who were privileged to know them) is keenly captured for The Journal in personal remembrances by their former students and colleagues, including President Joseph W. Polisi.
