As part of the Daniel Saidenberg Faculty Recital Series, the Juilliard String Quartet celebrated its 60th anniversary with a pair of concerts. The quartet, which in 1948 was the first to play Bartok's six string quartets in the United States, performed them again in Alice Tully Hall on November 8 and 10. The month of November also included a number of smaller-scale events within the Juilliard community, including a student Halloween dance, a celebration of various cultures represented at Juilliard during International Education Week, a chance for students to chat with dance alums Takehiro Ueyama and Amy Young over lunch, and the opportunity to nab a unique work of art at the annual Chair-ity Silent Auction.
