The Juilliard community was celebrating in January and February. The 2007 Focus! Festival featured music by Hungarian composers and Maestro Diego Masson (pictured) honored the late Gyorgi Ligeti in the Juilliard Orchestra's performance at the festival's close. Steven Blier and Michael Barrett presented "Songs of Peace and War" with Juilliard voice students at the New York Festival of Song's January concert, while Juilliard instrumentalists were busy at ChamberFest 2007, a week at the end of winter recess featuring a plethora of performances of chamber music all over campus. Meanwhile the Juilliard Jazz Ensembles presented "New Orleans: Now," the JOT sang Gluck's Iphigénie en Aulide, and the college-division students enjoyed the festivities at this year's Penguin Ball.
