The blizzard that blanketed the city in more than a foot of snow on January 22 didn’t keep the Juilliard Orchestra and Choral Union from their Carnegie Hall performance that night (photo, right). James DePreist conducted the all-Brahms program, which included the Third Symphony and Ein deutsches Requiem, with Amy Shoremont and Matthew Worth, soloists. While the winter raged on outdoors, inside the Juilliard community kept warm with the annual Focus! Festival, the M.L.K. celebration, a Mardi Gras-themed dance, and master classes. (Photo by Steve J.
