Composition faculty member John Corigliano is scheduled to give a public talk with Michael Boriskin (BS '73, piano) and Jon Magnussen (MM '95, DMA '99, composition) on December 2 at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, N.J.

L&M faculty member
Vivian Fung's (BM '96, MM '97, DMA '02, composition) String Quartet received its Asian premiere in July at the Forbidden City Concert Hall in Beijing with the American String Quartet. In May, she completed a residency with the San Jose Chamber Orchestra, made possible through the Music Alive! program of Meet the Composer and the American Symphony Orchestra League. This season she will serve as composer-in-residence of the Music in the Loft series in Chicago.

Violin and chamber music faculty member
Lewis Kaplan (BS '58, MS '60, violin) was a member of the violin jury at the Queen Elizabeth Competition in Brussels in May. In June and July, he participated in the Bowdoin International Music Festival, where he is also the director. In August he presented two weeks of master classes at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria, and in September served as a member of the jury of the Fritz Kreisler Competition in Vienna.

Pre-College faculty member
Frank Levy ('92, piano) performed on the Bargemusic series in Brooklyn in September. The program included works by Brahms, Liszt, and Schubert.

Graduate Studies faculty member
Michael Musgrave has been awarded the honorary Fellowship of the Royal College of Music. This was presented by the president of the R.C.M., Prince Charles, in May 2005.

L&M faculty member
Behzad Ranjbaran's (MM '82, DMA '92, composition) Elegy for cello and orchestra was performed by Yo-Yo Ma ('72, cello) and the Buffalo Philharmonic under the baton of JoAnn Falletta (MM '83, DMA '89, orchestral conducting) at the opening night gala in September.

Lawrence Rhodes, the director of the Dance Division, and Jessica Lang (BFA '97, dance) taught at Kaatsbaan International Dance Center's pre-professional intensive in August. Kaatsbaan also hosted Jennifer Muller (BFA '67, dance) in a performance-residency immediately prior to her Joyce season in September.

Graduate Studies faculty member
Kent Tritle (BM '85, MM '88, organ; MM '88, choral conducting) led a concert of the choir, soloists, and orchestra of the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola to raise funds for the relief efforts after Hurricane Katrina in September. Tritle has joined the Oratorio Society of New York as guest music director for the 2005-06 season.

Violin faculty member
Donald Weilerstein (BM '63, MS '66, violin) gave a master class at the Mannes College of Music in October.

Drama faculty member
Robert Neff Williams received the first Samuel H. Scripps Award from Theater for a New Audience last spring for extraordinary commitment to promoting the power of language in classical and contemporary theater. Williams also led a workshop on the work of the playwright George Bernard Shaw for 16 professional New York actors this summer.

Doctoral candidate
Garielius Alekna (MM '00, piano) won the second prize in the 12th International Beethoven Competition in Vienna last June.

Violin student
Dmitry Lukin won second prize at the Sion International Competition in Switzerland.
