Juilliard and Carnegie Launch Education Fellowship By TONI MARIE MARCHIONI
A pilot program in January of a new education initiative called The Academy—A Program of Carnegie Hall, The Juilliard School, and The Weill Music Institute, will launch in January. Its mission is three-fold: to nurture young performers in fulfilling their own talents, to develop the evolving role of the musician in society, and to provide public-school children with access to a high level of music education and performance.

Focus! 2007 Serves Up A Hungarian Feast

Focus! 2007 celebrates Hungary—the land of amazing pastries, musical Gypsies, and an impossible language! The festival is cooking up a healthy serving of Hungarian music post-Bartok. The main courses constitute a tribute to the late Gyorgy Ligeti (photo) and a belated 80th-birthday greeting to Gyorgy Kurtag, with servings of Peter Eotvos, Laszlo Tihanyi, Zsolt Durko, Andras Szollosy, Zoltan Jeney, and others on the side.

December Dance Festival Highlights New Work
