 I was delighted to see Jane Rubinsky's article on Hazel Penniman Luther (Sept. Alumni Spotlight). However, the article contained an incorrect statement: "The world's oldest living person is Marie Bremont of France, at 116." In fact, Marie Bremont was listed as the world's oldest person from November 2, 2000 until her death June 6, 2001 at 115. She was succeeded by Maud Farris-Luse of Michigan (born January 21, 1887) who died March 18, 2002 also at 115. Currently, both Guinness and the Gerontology Research Group list the world's oldest person as Kamato Hongo of Japan, born September 16, 1887. Hazel Luther is currently ranked seventh on the GRG world list. Gerontology Research Group
