Convocation, the annual gathering that "officially" opens the school year, was held on September 4 in the Juilliard Theater. President Joseph Polisi welcomed students, faculty, and staff, followed by Nora Kroll-Rosenbaum (shown in photo), a mater's degree student in composition, who spoke about the importance of collaboration. Edward Bilous, the founder and director of the Music Technology Center, illustrated the point with a presentation titled "Art and Technology," for which a dancer, a violinist, and a computer and digital audio engineer presented two high-tech collaborative works.
