Music Advancement Program

The Music Advancement Program is a Saturday instrument instruction program for highly talented children from backgrounds underrepresented in American performing arts. For the past 25 years, MAP has served as an essential bridge to higher levels of artistic and personal development for hundreds of young students.

Eligible students must be between the ages of 8 and 14, reside in the tristate area (NY, NJ, CT), and have played their instrument for at least two years. The application deadline for the 2017-2018 school year is April 1, 2017. The online application will be available here in January 2017.

The Juilliard School has an ongoing commitment to the principles and practices of inclusiveness and strongly encourages applications from students of diverse backgrounds. Students who play the following instruments are especially encouraged to apply: Bassoon, Oboe, Flute, Clarinet, French Horn, Tuba, Trumpet, Trombone, Percussion, Viola, Double Bass.

The Music Advancement Program is generously supported through an endowed gift in memory of Carl K. Heyman.
