Juilliard in Aiken is proud to announce its 3rd annual music festival, March 5-11, 2011. For the past two springs, Aiken, South Carolina has enjoyed the privilege of hosting wonderful performances from Juilliard faculty, students and alumni during their weeklong residency in the city. After the tremendous success of the first two festivals, Juilliard in Aiken is excited to expand its 2011 event two additional days and incorporate new genres of performing arts. With these additions, the 2011 Juilliard in Aiken is set to be an event full of truly spectacular performances.

After their brilliant Piano Duo Concert at last year’s event, Juilliard alumni, Greg Anderson and Elizabeth Joy Roe, are returning to open the festival on Saturday, March 5th with a performance in partnership with the USCA Cultural Series. Additional gifted artists including Juilliard Faculty Chair and Organist Paul Jacobs, a jazz quintet, string quintet, vocal quartet and two pre-college artists will continue the week with moving jazz and classical performances around the Aiken community. This year Juilliard in Aiken is also delighted to expand the festival to include dance and theater with a Juilliard Dance performance and a cabaret act from Juilliard Drama.

Juilliard in Aiken is pleased to expand the festival’s outreach and education program, which is designed to inspire and teach a new generation of audiences and young artists. During the 2011 festival, Juilliard artists will conduct workshops, master classes and interactive performances for school children in Aiken, Richmond, Columbia, Greenville and Edgefield Counties. This year’s program will reach over 2,000 young students.
