2010s

Melissa Fernandez (BFA '12) performed at the Joyce with Ballet Hispanico in a run that featured the world premiere of Michelle Manzanales's Con Brazos Abiertos.

Craig Black (BFA '11), Emily Proctor (BFA '07), Anthony Tiedeman (BFA '15), and Joseph Watson (BFA '07) are all company members of Aspen Santa Fe Ballet, which was in residency at the Joyce in April.

2000s

In March, Aaron Loux (BFA '09), a Mark Morris Dance Group company member, danced in the ensemble's Brooklyn Academy of Music residency program: Purcell's Dido and Aeneas and Britten's Curlew River.

Christopher Vo (BFA '08) is in the ensemble of Miss Saigon, which was directed by Laurence Connor and is at the Broadway Theatre through January 13.

Paton Ashbrook (Group 45) is in the Mint Theater Company's production of The Lucky One by A.A. Milne, which was directed by Jesse Machese. It runs through June 25 at Broadway's Beckett Theatre.

Gwendolyn Ellis (Group 45) plays young Elsa Einstein in the National Geographic show Genius¸ which premiered in April.

Jimmie “J.J.” Jeter (Group 45) will be in the Commonwealth Shakespeare Company's Shakespeare on the Common production of Romeo and Juliet in Boston this summer. It's directed by Saheem Ali.

In March, Jasmine Batchelor (Group 44) was featured in a New York Theatre Workshop reading of Ain't No Mo, by Jordan E. Cooper and directed by Stevie Walker-Webb.

Mary Wiseman (Group 44) played Sabina in Thornton Wilder's The Skin of Our Teeth at the Theatre for a New Audience this spring. The production was directed...Read more

2010s

Joshua Cerdenia (MM '16, composition) and doctoral candidate Jared Miller (MM '12, composition) have been commissioned by the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and its music director, Leonard Slatkin (BM '67, orchestral conducting), to compose orchestral pieces to be premiered during the 2017–18 season.

A number of Juilliard alumni were among 16 composers who received music awards from the American Academy of Arts and Letters in March: Saad Haddad (MM '16, composition), Hilary Purrington (MM '15, composition), Evening Division faculty member Dalit Warshaw (MM '97, DMA '03, composition), and Jan Krzywicki ('68, composition). Current students William Healey, Andrew Hsu, and Jake Landau (Pre-College '13) also received awards.

Sirena Huang (Pre-College '12; BM '16, violin) won first place in the Young Concert Artists Debut Auditions. Her prize includes a Berlin Philharmonie debut recital and a concerto with the Fairbanks...Read more
