Donald Borror (BFA '10) has been appointed the executive director of Dorrance Dance/New York, having previously served as an associate at Dunch Arts.


The following alumni and soon-to-be graduates will serve as guest choreographers for Ballet Tech's Kids Dance: Laura Careless (BFA '07), Stephanie Terasaki (BFA '16) and fourth-years Conner Bormann and Riley O'Flynn. The program they're working on takes place June 8 to 11 at the Joyce Theater.


In February, Duane Cyrus (BFA '88) brought a group of his advanced students to New York from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro School of Dance, where he is an associate professor. They performed Prelude to Action by Martha Graham (faculty 1951–77) at the Joyce in the Martha Graham Company's University Partners Showcase.

Paton Ashbrook (Group 45) guest-stars in an episode of Netflix's House of Cards that's scheduled to air on May 30.

Marianne Rendón (Group 45) plays Jules in Bravo's The Imposters, which premiered in February.

Robert Aramayo (Group 44) played Sal in Lost in Florence, which was released in January and was written and directed by Evan Oppenheimer.

Vella Lovell (Group 44) plays Heather Davis on CW's Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. In January, she was joined by Patti LuPone (Pre-College '67; Group 1), who guest-starred as Rabbi Shari in an episode of the show.

Justin Mark (Group 44) plays Billy Hawkins in Grant S. Johnson's Frat Star, which was released in January.

In January, Mary Wiseman (Group 44) guest-starred as Trinity in the FX show Baskets.

In February, Sirena Huang (Pre-College '12; BM '16, violin) won first prize at the Elmar Oliveira Violin Competition.

Countertenor Eric Jurenas (MM '15, voice) is singing in the world premiere of Avner Dorman's (DMA '06, composition) opera Wahnfried, which is running in repertoire at the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe through May 12.

Caroline Bembia (Pre-College '09; BM '14, harp) has been named principal harpist with the Filarmónica Jalisco in Guadalajara, Mexico, and will begin her tenure in June.

In February, the Westerlies, a jazz quartet co-founded by trombonist Andy Clausen (BM '14, jazz studies), trumpeter Riley Mulherkar (BM '14, MM '15, jazz studies), and their friends Zubin Hensler, trumpet, and Willem de Koch, trombone, worked with Sound Places, a Louisiana outreach program, and presented a series of mini-performances at the Kenner Council on Aging and the Rivertown...Read more
