Coronavirus Health Advisory

Juilliard is committed to the health and safety of its entire community and has taken immediate steps to address how the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak may impact the school. This page will have the latest information about what is happening on campus.

Latest Updates (Feb. 20, 2020)

There are currently no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in New York. All Juilliard classes, activities, and performances are proceeding as normal.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has declared a Public Health Emergency and implemented strict travel restrictions to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

  • Foreign nationals, other than immediate family of U.S. citizens and permanent residents, who have traveled to China within the last 14 days will be denied entry into the United States for this time.
  • U.S. citizens who have visited China within the last 14 days will be subject to health screening at airports and a possible 14-day mandatory or self-quarantine.
  • Please see full details on the HHS website

Juilliard is following the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), World Health Organization (WHO), State Department, and HHS regarding travel restrictions and current medical thinking about this outbreak. The links on the left of this page go to their websites, and we encourage all community members to stay current on the latest recommendations.

We also ask that all community members follow these best practices to keep Juilliard healthy:

  • Stay home and seek medical attention if you are not feeling well, especially if you are experiencing a fever, cough, shortness of breath, or other flu-like symptoms.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water (20 seconds of scrubbing) or use alcohol-based hand sanitizer if water is not readily available. Be sure to cover all surfaces and rub until dry.
  • Cough/sneeze into a tissue. Dispose of used tissues immediately into a trash can. If you don’t have a tissue, cough/sneeze into the crook of your elbow, not your hands. Then wash your hands or use hand sanitizer.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth, which accelerates the spread of infections.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Do not share glasses, eating utensils, water bottles, cigarettes/vapes/JUULs, lipstick/makeup, etc.
