Roger W. Oliver, born in Waterbury, Conn., received his bachelor’s degree from Middlebury College and his doctorate from Stanford University. He was director of special programs at the Brooklyn Academy of Music Theater Company from 1980-81. Oliver has been the humanities director for the Brooklyn Academy of Music’s Next Wave Festival since 1983. His publications include Dreams of Passion: The Dramatic Art of Luigi Pirandello; the drama chapter of the most recent edition of Good Reading; and articles and reviews in Forum, Performing Arts Journal, Theater Journal, and Modern Drama. Oliver has translated plays by Goldoni and Pirandello. He was drama assistant and then associate professor of English and dramatic literature at N.Y.U. from 1974-80, and adjunct associate professor since 1981. He joined the Juilliard Liberal Arts faculty in 1985.
