Leslie Smith is a lighting designer based in New York City and she is a faculty member at the University of New Haven, Conn. Her design credits include The Acquittal and Lost in Shanghai (PanAsian Repertory), Ami and Tami (Floating Tower), Eternal Spring (Gelsey Kirkland Ballet), Two Forks (NYU), Stories (Marked Dance Co.), Homo Sapiens Interruptus (NYC Fringe Festival), Metamorphoses (Long Island University), Stilled (CEMA Dance), Bat Boy: The Musical (Horace Mann School), Ships and Salsa (UNA Projects), Puppet Titus Andronicus (Theatre Row), the Dwarfs, Footfalls, and Rockaby (dir. JoAnne Akailitis, NYU Tisch), MeanTime (dir. Stephen Fried, NYU Tisch), and an excerpt from Dark Matters (ch. Crystal Pite, NYU Tisch). She has worked as resident lighting designer at Nunnbetter Dance Co. and has also designed windows for the Madison Avenue Ralph Lauren store. She was the resident lighting designer/supervisor at NYU from 2012-2014. She received her bachelor's degree from Lewis and Clark College and her Master of Fine Arts from NYU Tisch Design. She received the J.S. Steidman Award in 2014.
