Ruo Huang On the Web

Born in Hainan Island, China

Compositions performed by the Philadelphia Orchestra under Wolfgang Sawallisch, Juilliard Symphony under James Conlon, American Composers Orchestra under Dennis Russell Davies, the ASKO Ensemble, the Nieuw Ensemble, and the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, as well as by violinist Cho-Liang Lin and cellist Jian Wang. Has collaborated with the New York City Ballet and choreographers Damian Woetzel and Christopher Wheeldon. The International Contemporary Ensemble's concert of his four chamber concertos at Columbia University's Miller Theater was one of The New York Times' "Top Ten Classical Moments of 2003." Chamber Concerto Cycle released on the Naxos label's American Classics Series in February 2007. Author of A Selection of Classic Chinese Folk Songs (Zhong Shan University Press). Currently assistant professor in composition at SUNY-Purchase.
