Violist Carol Rodland had her solo debut with the Philadelphia Orchestra. She has premiered and recorded works by Kenji Bunch, Dan Coleman, David Liptak, Christopher Theofanidis, and Augusta Read Thomas. She is an artist-faculty member at the Perlman Music Program, Bowdoin International Music Festival, and the Karen Tuttle Coordination Workshop. Her previous positions include co-chair of the String Department at Eastman School of Music and at New England Conservatory, where she was recognized in 2005 with the Krasner Award for Excellence in Teaching. She has taught at the Musikhochschule “Hanns Eisler” Berlin. In 2009, Rodland founded If Music Be the Food…, a concert series which raises awareness and support for the hungry. She received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Juilliard and her Aufbaustudium Diplom from the Musikhochschule Freiburg. She has studied with Karen Tuttle and Kim Kashkashian. Rodland became a Juilliard faculty member in fall 2017.
