Born in Los Angeles, hornist Jason Sugata has appeared with ensembles including New York City Ballet, American Ballet Theater, TILT Brass, Wet Ink Ensemble, Novus NY, Talea Ensemble, Wind Soloists of New York, and the San Diego Symphony. He has appeared in the pits of more than a dozen Broadway shows and onstage with Jay-Z, Rihanna, Tony Bennett, and Lady Gaga. He can be heard on recordings with Ensemble LPR, Albany Symphony, the Knights, Argento Chamber Ensemble, and Alicia Keys. Sugata received his BM from Manhattan School of Music under the tutelage of Jerome Ashby. He received his MM from SUNY Stony Brook, where he studied with William Purvis. Sugata spent two summers as horn faculty at the Performing Arts Institute, and is currently director of programs and brass faculty at International Music Sessions. In his spare time, Sugata enjoys dominating fantasy football leagues and watching bad reality television. He lives in New York City.
