Juilliard is helping to kickstart New York City’s cultural renewal and reopening.

Presenting free dance, drama, and music events at Lincoln Center and around New York City, Juilliard NOW is part of Lincoln Center’s Restart Stages, a new initiative that creates an outdoor performing arts center. Juilliard NOW performances begin May 12 with a 1pm open house that showcases Juilliard acting students along with brass, chamber, and jazz ensembles.

“We greatly look forward to joining Lincoln Center and our colleagues across the campus in this artistic celebration of New York City’s revival,” Juilliard’s president, Damian Woetzel, said. “Our students have demonstrated the resilience that is at the heart of our extraordinary city as they have taken to virtual stages. But nothing compares to the vital importance of performing before live audiences, and we can’t wait for our reconnection in the weeks to come.”

Performances for the month of May include presentations by dozens of student artists from across the school’s college divisions—dance, drama, and music—as well as the Preparatory Division; they take place each Wednesday and Thursday afternoon and some evenings and weekends. There will be additional pop-up performances in the lobby of Alice Tully Hall with amplified sound for passersby on Broadway.

Free tickets will be available through an exclusive mobile lottery on TodayTix, and all attendees will be required to fill out a health survey, among other safety protocols. For more information, click here to visit Lincoln Center’s Restart Stages website.
