The background appears to be indoors, with light-colored walls and some greenery visible. The group exudes a joyful and celebratory atmosphere.

Reflecting on a Thrilling Year

Just after spring break, we asked students—some graduating, some staying on—to reflect about what they’d been doing lately, their hobbies, and some highlights of their time at Juilliard. In addition, some shared how scholarship support has helped them and what they’re doing this summer.

Lifelong lesson learned
Always practice slowly and meticulously and put everything under a microscope to ensure the music is played on a high level at all times.

Scholarship support
Having a scholarship enabled me to study at MAP, meet amazing students, and take a master class with the great Weston Sprott [dean and director of the Preparatory Division].

Highlights

  • It has been extremely rewarding to study under someone with such expertise.

  • Through MAP, I was able to go to the Metropolitan Opera with some of my family members, free of charge. We saw La bohème, and it was an awesome experience.

  • While I thought I would enjoy MAP from the time I heard about it from a friend, being under the guidance of such great teachers and around such wonderful musicians has changed my life for the better.

Hobbies
Nature photography, wood burning, writing, and reading.
