    Juilliard Dance, under the leadership of acting artistic director Taryn Kaschock Russell, opens its season in December with New Dances: Edition 2017 featuring four world-premiere dances created for Juilliard students by choreographers Bryan Arias (first-year class), Gentian Doda (second-year class), Roy Assaf (third-year class), and Gustavo Ramírez Sansano (fourth-year class).

    Juilliard Dance, under the leadership of Alicia Graf Mack, opens its season with New Dances: Edition 2018 featuring four world-premiere dances by innovative choreographers Marcus Jarrell Willis (first-year class); Nelly van Bommel (second-year class); Juilliard alumnus Peter Chu (third-year class); and Stefanie Batten Bland (fourth-year class). Performances take place December 7, 8, 10, and 11, at 7:30pm and December 9 at 3pm in Juilliard’s Peter Jay Sharp Theater.

    Juilliard LIVE to Premiere New Dances: Edition 2020-21 Beginning Thursday, August 19, 2021

    Juilliard LIVE will premiere New Dances: Edition 2020-21, filmed in Juilliard’s Peter Jay Sharp Theater and free for online audiences, beginning Thursday, August 19, 2021, at 2pm (ET) at juilliard.edu/live. After the premiere, the performance will remain available for on-demand viewing on Juilliard’s media gallery and the Juilliard YouTube channel. Presented annually, New Dances features premieres of four new works, one by each class of Juilliard dancers. The works are created on—and with—them by professional choreographers, and every member of each class is involved. The 2020-21 choreographers are Tiler Peck, Sonya Tayeh, Bobbi Jene Smith, and Matthew Neenan.

    The New Juilliard Ensemble, led by founder and director Joel Sachs, concludes its 2017-18 season with four premieres in a free concert on Monday, April 28, 2018, at 7:30pm in Alice Tully Hall. The program features Kolbeinn Bjarnason’s After all, the sky flashes, the great sea yearns (2018, world premiere, composed for NJE); Alejandro Cardona’s Sweet Tijuana, danzas fronterizas (2007, U.S. premiere) with Juilliard violist Stephanie Block; Salvatore Sciarrino’s Fanofanìa (2010, New York premiere); and faculty member Jonathan Dawe’s Oroborium (2018, world premiere, composed for NJE) with Juilliard singers, soprano Anneliese Klenetsky and tenor Chance Jonas-O’Toole.
