Program Dates: July 7-26, 2024

Juilliard Summer Dance Intensive is a curated three-week program designed to both introduce dancers to Juilliard and provide information about college dance programs that will assist dancers in making decisions about their education in line with their professional goals.

Through technique classes, discussions, and collaborations with special guest choreographers, dancers have the opportunity to meet faculty, students, and staff, and will meet one-on-one with either Dance Division Dean and Director Alicia Graf Mack or Associate Director Mario Alberto Zambrano.

The program is limited to dancers who have completed at least one year of high school/secondary school and who will not graduate before the program begins. Generally, this means that dancers in the program are aged 15-17 and have completed grade 9, 10, or 11. International students are welcome to apply. All classes, rehearsals and other activities will take place at Juilliard’s Lincoln Center campus and in New York City.

Detailed information on the admissions process is available below. Questions may be directed to [email protected].

A Typical Day at the Summer Dance Intensive

The day begins in one of Juilliard's six large studios with a ballet technique, pointe, or allegro class, followed by partnering or modern. After lunch, dancers take two additional classes that vary by day and include yoga, hip-hop, improvisation, modern, and other dance workshops. In addition to the daily technique classes, every dancer participates in evening rehearsals of new choreography and repertoire. These pieces are shown on the final day in a showing for family and friends.

Teachers include members of the Juilliard College Dance Division faculty as well as renowned guest artists.

Students may stay in the Meredith Willson Residence Hall, adjacent to the Juilliard School building, and eat in the Juilliard cafeteria, a full service dining room. Students living in the residence hall are supervised by live-in resident hall staff.

There is also time to see New York City. On free evenings and weekends, the dancers can opt to attend many activities supervised by the residence hall hosts, including Broadway shows, walks in nearby Central Park, movies, and free outdoor performances at Lincoln Center.
