Virtual Reality Intensive With Creative Associates Group the Builders Association

In January 2023, a cohort of drama students worked with Creative Associates group the Builders Association as the company developed its next cross-media performance in virtual reality (VR) spaces. The students collaborated with the company to explore the hybrid zone between live and immersive VR performance in a theatrical format. Working alongside the company as actors, technologists, and content creators, the students shared their findings in a private work-in-process showing at the end of their weeklong intensive.

Cage Workshop with Creative Associate Barbara Hannigan

Creative Associates Barbara Hannigan and Caili Quan collaborated on a workshop with 13 vocal arts, dance, percussion, and collaborative piano students who explored several works by Cage to create short, movement-based vignettes inspired by five of his compositions

Pan! With Creative Associate Claire Chase

Creative Associate Claire Chase collaborated with an ensemble of musicians, dancers, and actors to workshop Pan, a 75-minute piece for flute, live electronics, and an ensemble of community performers.

Closing Spaces with Creative Associate Caili Quan

Juilliard's 2021 Convocation closed with the fourth-year dancers performing Closing Spaces, a new dance made for the occasion by Creative Associate Caili Quan. Music for the new work was Gabriella Smith’s Tesselations, which was performed by a student sextet coached by Dean and Director of the Music Division David Ludwig.
