About

Born and raised in North Carolina, Ashleé Miller is a clarinetist and music theorist who specializes in contemporary music performance. She is a member of The Parhelion Trio, an all-female chamber ensemble in New York City, and Nu Deco Ensemble, a genre-bending orchestra that regularly collaborates with recent R&B and jazz Grammy winners and nominees. Her research centers around rhythm and entrainment in musical performance, with a specialization in the compositions of Charles Ives. Miller also serves on the faculties of Adelphi University and the City University of New York, and provides clarinet demonstrations for the New York Philharmonic educational programs. She was awarded her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Mannes College of Music, graduating as student speaker and winning honors and the Lotte Pulvermacher-Egers Humanities Award. Ashleé received her doctorate of from CUNY’s Graduate Center, where her dissertation was on Charles Ives.
