Carol Rocamora is an educator, translator, playwright, biographer, and critic. She serves on the faculty of New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and The Juilliard School, teaching dramatic literature and theatre history. Her numerous publications include three volumes of Chekhov’s complete dramatic works in translation. She is the author of two theatre biographies: “Anton Chekhov: A Life in Four Acts,” and “Acts of Courage: Vaclav Havel’s Life in the Theatre.” “Rubles”, her new two-volume collection of twenty new stage adaptations of Chekhov’s short stories, will be published in the summer of 2020. She is a member of the International Association of Theatre Critics, American Theatre Critics Association, Outer Critics Circle, and Drama Desk. Her original play, “I take your hand in mine,” based on the love letters of Chekhov and Olga Knipper, has been translated and performed around the world.
